Gräsö in May

It’s getting late as we turn off the main road. A windblown tree blocks us from driving the last few dozen meters to the house. I start unloading the essentials, my youngest on one arm, as my eldest is picking the early spring flowers in the last hints of daylight.

After a few solo jaunts here in the past few months, the kids had gotten keen to head to the country house too. We take the opportunity to drive up ahead of a national holiday, for a long weekend away.

Weather’s touch and go, but certainly nicer than when I was here last. We spend plenty of time outdoors, treading familiar ground, flying kites, dipping our toes in the still freezing water. Energy ebbs and flows, but we have a great few days away.
